Philly native Lane Simkins has just dropped his newest single, “Leave,” and it’s amazing. The eighteen year old singer-songwriter has managed to encapsulate this incredibly intricate yet sleepy sound through the first half of the song, letting his guitar do all the talking. And then there’s this really beautiful and wild build as the final chorus drops and it’s breathtaking. From an eighteen year old. On top of that, the song is completely self-produced with the help of Josh Bonanno on back-end mixing. So wow.

Born and raised in South Jersey and never showing any interest in music until he was almost a teenager, Simkins is now working on finding a sound to call his own. “Leave” is the first of three planned singles that will appear over the next few months.

On “Leave,” Simkins pulled his inspiration from “fall[ing] in love so deeply and trying to hold on to every minute with that person before they leave.”

I certainly relate and love every second of this song. This is totally a sound that I vibe with. Check out Lane and stream “Leave” now!
